Job Description:

Paul J. Cooper is seeking a dedicated and experienced Behavioral Intervention Specialist (BIS) to develop new or strengthen existing adaptive behaviors and modify maladaptive behaviors through written behavior management plans for adults with developmental disabilities under the supervision of the licensed psychologist/LMSW. Provide initial and annual psychological assessments on all consumers following the format established by the program and having the approval signature of the supervising licensed psychologist or LMSW.

Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in behavioral health or related field.

  • Minimum of 1-year experience working with developmentally disabled individuals.

  • Ability to train staff.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

  • Knowledge of OPWDD regulations governing services for people with developmental disabilities.

  • Knowledge of interdisciplinary processes and quality assurance practices integral to caring for individuals with developmental disabilities.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

The following duties are essential to the role. Other duties may be assigned as necessary.

  • In collaboration with the interdisciplinary team members, develop outcomes, objectives, and methods to address psychological problems/needs with the approval of the licensed psychologist/LMSW-R.

  • Provide in-service training and support to Direct Support Professionals, the clinical team, and management staff regarding psychological services.

  • Attends and participates in all case reviews where a consumer has behavior problems/goals/plans.

  • Writes quarterly, semi, and annual progress reports related to consumer’s behaviors/A.B.C. documentation.

  • Write the consumer’s behavioral progress on the referral/consultation form for each Psych visit.

  • Participate in staff and clinical meetings; provide input to the program evaluation and development.
