Job Description:
Direct Support Professionals (DSP) make up the majority of our frontline staff - working alongside our individuals, clinical teams, social workers, managers, and administrative staff in any one of our residences all located throughout Brooklyn. Our DSPs perform various duties to support our individuals with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDDs). We have morning, evening, and overnight shifts - but availability varies between location and program needs.
Qualifications:
High School Diploma or GED 30 college credits preferred.
Ability to read and comprehend instructions and information.
Experience in the care of individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDDs).
Valid New York State driver's license with clean driving record.
Physically able to bend, stretch, and transfer individuals as needed from bed, chair, toilet using approved method of transfer.
AMAP, SCIP, and CPR/First Aid trained a plus.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:
The following duties are essential to the role. Other duties may be assigned as necessary.
The primary responsibility of all employees is to provide the appropriate level of supervision to ensure and protect each individual’s health and safety.
Assist in planning preparation and implementing of recreation in and the outside of the residence.
Assist individuals with additional skills and with medical, social, and financial needs, assist in preparation of all meals, clean up after all meals garbage and disposal, beds are made, dishes are packed away, bathrooms are clean and grooming kits are cleaned, etc.
Attending required trainings in corporate compliance documentation and other topics that relate to your job responsibilities.
Perform other duties as assigned by management.
